Creating content as a group, especially when it lifts other musicians and builds community, is more important than ever. That’s what La Biblioteca Sessions is doing, and we’re proud to be part of it.

On April 22, 2025, POCKiT got back in the groove with a live session that felt more like a family reunion than a gig. I linked up with Diego Paredes for a special recording of

La Biblioteca Sessions, a dope YouTube channel he started with Hugo Fuguet and Eric Chacon, two killer musicians from Venezuela. The vibe? Imagine pulling up to a house that feels like a cozy, lived-in library, because that’s literally what it is. Diego’s dad has this living room full of books and soul, and that’s where these sessions were born. That’s why it’s called La Biblioteca. They’ve been documenting a wide range of incredible bands from South Florida and beyond, giving artists a platform and a space to shine.

It had been a minute since we recorded a live session like this, so we were thrilled to get back to documenting some of the songs we have been performing in the past year. After my daughter was born, the band took a short break, but this felt like the perfect way to come back as a group. I’ve known Diego since my time at Singular Sound, where we collaborated in a few projects and to reconnect through this session felt like coming full circle.

For the full 3-song set session, we brought in our brother Bob Smiley on sax, he’s been jamming with us for the past year and has become part of the POCKiT sound. And for one special track, we called up the legend himself, Itawe Correa, to bring his voice into the mix. The result? Magic. That song hit like a masterpiece live.

We performed and recorded 3 songs during that day. “Carajillo” – Named after that fire espresso + Licor 43 drink we fell in love with on our Mexico City tour. This track is all Brazilian groove, funk attitude, and sharp fusion breaks. Haven’t tried a carajillo? You can get a bottle of Licor 43 at any Publix liquor store. Highly recommended to all coffee drinkers. “Cornbread” – Straight soul food. Warm, greasy, and locked into the pocket. It’s the kind of groove you feel in your chest. Bob went off on this one. “Mocoso” – A wild fusion of Latin funk and hip-hop, with Itawe commanding the mic. There’s always something electric when he joins us, and this tune has history. This song was the first opening song of our latest album, “En Camino”. This is the exact type of jam where Chip, Josh, and I first connected back in 2018.  The chemistry still hits hard. We had never performed it live until this session.

This session wasn’t just about filming songs. It was a celebration of growth, of friendship, of grooves that don’t quit.

Huge thanks to Diego, Hugo, Eric, and Diego’s dad for opening their home to the funk. And also big S/O to my dude Andy Valdivia for capturing the photos that day.

The full video concert is now available on La Biblioteca Sessions YouTube channel, the live three song EP album on all music platforms and the exclusive Behind-the-Scenes video of our recording session.
